Bootleg Avengers and Hasbro Mighty Battlers Avengers

Bootleg Avengers Assemble

I actually don't know why I'm blogging about these Knock Offs. But I bought them out of my amusement of finding these amazingly bootlegged 6 inch Avengers Movie toys. Lately I've come across a lot of bootlegged Marvel toys that uses the molds of the original toys by Hasbro and Toybiz. The best of them all are these Movie Avengers set. This Movie Avengers set are selling like hotcakes here in the Philippines because of the movie's massive success. A lot of kids who can't afford to buy the original ones (which by the way are hard to find) settled for this set. I'm gonna do a quick review on these bootlegs to give you an idea how awesome (or not) these are.

Bootleg Thor

Thor

(L-R) Hasbro Mighty Battlers Movie Thor and Bootleg Thor

I think this Bootleg Thor is based from the Hasbro 8 inch Thor. It's like a miniature version of that Thor because this figure stands at approximately 6 inch. But this figure has added articulation. This figure's articulation consists of a Ball jointed neck, swivel shoulders, hinged elbows, swivel hips, and hinged knees. It has a removable hammer that is of rubbery plastic substance. The body's paint apps are quite good but the face is so so. It doesn't actually capture Chris Hemsworth face. The cape is removable. It's chest also has a Red colored led light that lights up when you press a button in it's back. I don't get it why bootleg toys have these light up gimmicks on the figure's chest. It seems to be a staple for these types of toys. In the photo, I used the Hasbro Mighty Battlers Thor for scale comparison. (Grade 7/10)

Bootleg Hawkeye

Hawkeye

(L-R) Toybiz ML Hawkeye and Bootleg Hawkeye

Admittedly, I bought this set because I had plans of using the Head of this Hawkeye figure for a custom Movie Hawkeye. I love the head sculpt of this figure because it closely captures Jeremy Renner's face. Though some are saying that it has Agent Phil Coulson's face (which I don't really agree). Someone actually has already done a custom Agent Phil Coulson figure using this head. Check it out here:

I don't know where they got this figure's mold but it uses a repainted Thor's body. The paint apps are good enough to try to hide Thor's body. The arms looks awkward as it is fixed with an arrow shooting pose. It shares the same articulation with the Bootleg Thor but minus the elbow articulation. It also comes with a bow and arrow accessory as well as a removable arrow pack that is attached on it's back. Again it also has a light up gimmick on it's chest. In the Photo, I used the Toybiz Marvel Legends Series 7 Hawkeye for Scale Comparison. (Grade 8/10)

Bootleg Captain America

Captain America

ML Series 8 Cap and Bootleg Cap

Well this Bootleg Cap is eye popping. It uses the Toybiz Marvel Legends Series 8 Ultimate Captain America mold. In the photo, I had it stood side by side with the original Captain America figure where it was based from. The bootleg one looks a bit smaller. And it's shoulder is kinda off. The mold though is totally spot on. But it only features limited articulation. It only has a ball jointed neck, swivel shoulders, hinged elbows, swivel hips, and hinged knees. Again it has a light up gimmick on it's chest. The paint apps are quite good. The shield is also decent enough. What I don't understand is that why they didn't make use of the Movie Cap version for this bootleg Captain America. Of course, they could not get a hold of the Avengers Movie version, but at least they could have opted for the Hasbro 8 inch Roto Cap. I guess they opted for the mold of the best Captain America figure ever released. Well I shouldn't complain because the body will very much come in handy for my custom unmasked Captain America (See Photo Below) (Grade 9/10).

Bootleg Black Widow

Black Widow
(L-R) Bootleg Black Widow and ML Series 8 Black Widow

This Bootleg Black Widow feels like a cardboard cutout. I think the bootleggers just used a random Avengers Movie Black Widow photo as the source and did an original body sculpt. This figure is an epic fail for me because they weren't able to sculpt Black Widow's "assets" properly. The chests are not well endowed enough. Scarlett Johansson should sue these bootleggers for the omission that they did. But they could get a good alibi because the figure doesn't look like Scarlett. This figure only sports 3 articulations. A swivel neck and swivel shoulders. The paint apps looks decent. The figure holds a non removable gun on her right hand. The figure is composed of rubbery plastic that are quite bendable. Unfortunately, this figure doesn't have a led light gimmick on it's chest. This one is a fail. In the Photo, I used the Toybiz Marvel Legends Series 8 Black Widow for Scale Comparison (Grade 2/10)

Bootleg Incredible Hulk

Incredible Hulk

Hasbro 8 inch Avengers Movie Roto Hulk and Bootleg Hulk

Funny, Hulk is supposed to be the biggest of all the Avengers but the Bootleggers got lazy and opted to use the puny 4 inch Marvel Universe Hulk mold for this set's Hulk figure. This is a huge insult to the green skinned behemoth. I've seen lots of bootleg Hulks before, I'm wondering why they didn't opt to rehash those bootlegs from the Ang Lee Hulk Movie. This figure's paint apps is hideous. The Bootleggers forgot to paint Hulk's pants, giving it a funny looking purple underpants. The figure is articulated with a swivel neck, swivel shoulders, hinged elbows, swivel hips, and hinged knees. It also has that led light gimmick on it's chest. In the Photo, I used the 8 inch Hasbro Avengers Movie Hulk Rotocast for Scale Comparison(Grade 3/10)

Bootleg Iron Man

Iron Man

Hasbro Iron Man 2 Mark 6 and Bootleg Iron Man Mark 3

The bootleg Iron Man is an exact replica of the Hasbro Iron Man 1 Mark 3 Movie figure. It utilizes it's mold and almost had it done perfectly except for the lack of articulation. The figure is articulated with a ball jointed neck, swivel shoulders, hinged elbows, swivel hips (that moves left to right, not up and down), hinged knees, and hinged ankles. Among the bootlegs, this figure has the most number of articulation. The paint apps are good enough because majority of the figure is composed of red colored plastics. It also has a light up feature on it's chest which actually makes sense  because Iron Man does have a power core that lights up on his chest. I could have given this figure a perfect score but it's hip articulation is quite annoying because it limits the posseability of the figure. I know that the original figure possesses ball jointed hips but the Bootleggers could have at least put swivel hips instead like the Bootleg Captain America figure. The original ML Captain America also possesses ball jointed hips. So I see no reason why they couldn't do the same for Iron Man (Grade 9/10)

Bootleg Nick Fury
Nick Fury

Hasbro ML Two Pack Nick Fury and Bootleg Nick Fury

This Bootleg Nick Fury figure is Black Widow all over again. It shares the same articulation with Black Widow, shares the same plastic material, and most probably shared the same production and design process. The paint apps are passable. This figure is lazily done. The head sculpt though is nowhere near Samuel Jackson's face but can actually be passable if forced upon. I used the Head to customize an Ultimate Nick Fury (See photo below). The body can be used as Hasbro Iron Man 2 Mark 4 Tony Stark's body (See photo below).  Not much can be said for this figure. The only good thing that can be said for this figure is that the head is easily removable. (Grade 2/10)

The Avengers

These bootleg figures are actually good enough to be displayed alongside the unfinished Hasbro Mighty Battlers Avengers. I actually treated the Mighty Battlers as my alternative 6 inch Avengers Movie action figure collection. But Hasbro disappointed me by not producing Hawkeye, Black Widow, and  Nick Fury. The Mighty Battlers are decent toys that would mostly appeal to kids because of it's action features. Squeeze Captain America's legs and he'll simulate throwing a shield as the shield attached to his hands spins. Squeeze Thor's legs and he simulates a spinning hammer attack. Squeeze Hulks legs and the Hulk smashes. Squeeze Iron Man's legs and he simulates a repulsor blast. I didn't buy both Hulk and Iron Man because I opted for the Roto Hulk for scale purposes. While for the Iron Man figure, I'm using my Hasbro Mark 4 Iron Man. But since I've found these decent bootlegs, they will be joining the Mighty Battlers Avengers in my display and as my son's playthings.
