Target Exclusive Justice League: Axis of Evil Board Game |
In the recent months, I've been stacking myself with some Superhero related tabletop games because I wanted to start a tabletop game nights with my son. I think it's about time to start appreciating board games like the yesteryears when families get to spend quality time together through fun and educational games. The advent of hand held games and phone games seems to have changed the dynamics in homes. Most often than not, each family members is glued to their respective gadget, playing as if there is nobody around them. Well I wanted to break this new tradition, hence board games are one of the ways to go. In my hands now is a Target Exclusive Justice League Board Game called the Axis of Villains. I will be reviewing this board game to help you guys out if ever you would come across this and would want to know more about this game before purchasing it.

Boardgame's back cover |
The objective of the game is to protect the Justice League Watchtower from the attacking Villains. The Justice League Heroes to choose from here are Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, and Flash. Each heroes will have his own set of special abilities as written in their profile cards. Initially, there are only eight villains to start the game. As the game progresses, the players take turns moving around the octagon shaped board game using an 8 sided die and a special die marking the movements of the villains. Power Cards can be drawn when you defeat a villain or whenever a villain lands on a spot that would allow him to draw a card. When you defeat a villain, you are allowed to draw a card which could give you power ups on top of your character's given powers. A Villain drawn card on the other hand allows the villain to have reinforcements from the various villain characters which have not yet come into play. The villains in this game consists of five rogue galleries of each hero in this game. There is also an additional four villains which are considered as the bosses. The game is best played with the maximum four players because a single or only two players will leave your heroes' chances of beating the villains very low. After all, this is a strategy game, so the players must work out a strategy to beat the villains. You only have four chances of protecting your Watchtower. You must defeat all the villains in the board to you win the game. If the Villains destroys the Watchtower, the team loses the game. Check out the game pieces below.

Overall this is a fun and challenging game to have. I've played it with my son a couple of times already and we rarely win the game. I guess we lack a sound strategy in beating the Villains.
